What is the Purpose?

Knowing the purpose of each exercise is essential to understanding the work. It informs, both how you execute an exercise and how you teach it. When you know the purpose, it simplifies and clarifies both questions and confusion. This workshop is a must for every teacher and any Pilates lover.

Thrilling Combinations

This is inspired by Carrie’s popular Instagram challenge the “matwork challenge”.  In this challenge, she took classical mat exercises and linked them together in new and exciting ways to create what Romana would call “mini flows”.  Carrie has now expanded these mini flows and has put them into one powerful and dynamic workshop.  You will learn fun, inspiring combinations on the Mat, Caddy, Wunda Chair and Ladder Barrel.  This is a fantastic workshop for seasoned teachers who have their fundamentals down pat and know their way around the entire system of apparatus.

Spot On

In this workshop we will cover the important role, we as instructors, play in our clients successfully understanding and executing an exercise.  Early on, Carrie learned that our “hands are like magnets”.  You will learn how to use them effectively to get the most out of your client.  Through 15 years of teaching, Carrie has learned that less is more when it comes to verbal cues.  She will guide you on how to be succinct and simple with your verbal cueing.  Learn how pairing intentional tactile cues with simple verbal cues will help your clients reach their potential… and help you reach yours as a teacher!

Pilates is in the Details

This is a phrase Carrie coined years ago and whole heartedly believes in.  In this workshop, we will be diving deeper into the work by fine tuning and honing individual exercises.  We will be exploring how to “squeeze the juice out” of every moment, as Romana used to say.  This workshop is designed to elevate your practice (and your teaching) to the next level!

Rhythms and Dynamics

In this workshop, we explore what the intended tempo is for individual exercises and why Joe wanted it that way.  We will also explore how “control” doesn’t always mean “slow”.  We will be in groups and each group will be demonstrating several exercises at a time.  This workshop will get your heart pumping – just as Joe intended!
